Carin Schwartz Transition Town Forres ttforres.org Carin has become increasingly interested in the environment, permaculture and actively engaged community participation after a long life lived in large cities. After moving to Forres she started Transition Town Forres almost three years ago and now works on integrating hard voluntary work and being a mother of two teenagers with a sustainable lifestyle. A favourite part of her life is spent composting and encouraging worms to multiply.

Cayla Tepper Findhorn Community Semester St Hello! I'm Cayla, currently a University of Vermont (USA) student spending a semester here at Findhorn. My area of study and passion is building community around food systems, and I am humbled and ecstatic to participate in the Bioneers conference. I am enthusiastic about gardening, biking, dancing, and the interconnectivity of life.

Claudia Annunziata Università Atlantidea www.universitatlantidea.org Claudia Annunziata is co-founder of Plato Studies Center, a Ngo which has been working in the last ten years on educational projects in India and Nepal. PSC created a network of schools in these two countries, and now is building in Sardinia (Italy) a new project based on the connection between the spiritual world and the husbandry of the earth. Domenico Fiormonte Universita' Atlantidea / Unive I am a lecturer in Linguistics and New Media at the University of Roma Tre, but I will be attending Bioneers as a member of Universita' Atlantidea, an Italian NGO based in Sardinia. Uiversita' Atlantidea is a spin-off of a ten-years long educational project created in Kerala (India) by the Plato Studies Center (registered charity in India).

Emile van Dantzig Consentric Circles consentric.nl i am interested in how we can learn to cooperate and live together as individuals with our own (excellent) properties coping with different languages, different views, conflicts arising in fact with all differences and equivalences we know or do not recognize. How can we come to a common aim to preserve our resources on earth and cooperate and structure our way of living, communicating, making decisions and learn from our conflicts and continuing our path in balance with each other and nature. Gabrielle Hamm Findhorn Ecovillage http://www.findhorn.org/programmes/evt.php Gabrielle Haworth Hamm, BSc Sociology with Environmental Studies University of Surrey, was born and raised in Findhorn. After volunteering in Ladakh, India she moved to London to study. While at University she coordinated a student political group, People & Planet campaigning for better environmental standards and accountability in the University and nationally. She worked as Partnership Manager for OneWorld UK, an International charity based in London using new media innovatively to spread awareness around environmental issues globally. She returned to Findhorn in 2007 to focalise the Ecovillage Training incorporating Permaculture Design Certificate and now also organising the Gaia Education Design for Sustainability Training of Trainers.

Galen Fulford Biomatrix Water www.biomatrixwater.com Galen is the director of Biomatrix Water, on ecological design and engineering solutions for bioremediation and wastewater treatment.

Genevieve Jones education for sustainability Genevieve is a trained architect and has worked in social housing, community architecture, self-build and latterly has been teaching sustainability, technology and design at Robert Gordon University. She also runs a small hill farm where she is focusing on increasing biodiversity across its unusually high number of habitats.

Jock Millenson Holly Foundation www.hollyfoundation.org Jock Millenson joined the Findhorn Foundation in 1982 after a 20 year career as an academic psychologist and researcher. At Findhorn Jock trained as a herbalist/naturopath and practiced at Healthworks natural therapies centre. In 2002 he co-founded the Kalikalos holistic education eco-centre in Greece for demonstrating the power of authentic community as a vehicle for practicing peace, partnership and sustainability.

Karsten Stampa Clear Village www.clear-village.org/ After studying economics in Berlin, Karsten started his professional life as a business consultant for several German financial institutions in strategic management, re-engineering, financial planning and control. During his master studies in Berlin and Cambridge he concentrated on how to control clusters of creative industries and sustainable businesses, the reason he came in touch with CLEAR Village. Within the charity he concentrates especially on the economic side of a CLEAR Village – how to set up, develop and use regional economic development approaches to foster sustainable (economic) communities.

Katy Fox CELL asbl cell.lu/ Katy Fox is a social anthropologist and has researched the impacts of EU agriculture policy on the lives of small farmers in Romania. Her follow-up research in Romania put her in contact with environmental questions and she has since worked with permaculturalists and movements defending the right to a livelihood for small farmers. While her earlier interests had a strong focus on the economy and power, her current work is more focused on deliberative paths for desired social change and the interconnections between ecosystems and social systems. She sees her work at the edge of engaged empirical social research, radical pedagogy, philosophy and the arts. She has now moved back to the region in Luxembourg that she grew up in and is setting up the association CELL, the Centre for Ecological Learning Luxembourg, which is a laboratory for transitional and permaculture ethics and practice. She spends a lot of time reading, writing, running and gardening.

Kosha Joubert GEN-Europe www.gen-europe.org/ Kosha is the President of the Global Ecovillage Network - Europe. Having lived in intentional communities and ecovillages for the past 20 years, she is part of a consultancy team that takes the knowledge gained in the Ecovillage movement out to the wider society. She is co-author of the curriculum for the Ecovillage Design Education (www.gaiaeducation.org) and co-editor of Beyond You and Me. Inspirations and Wisdom for Building Community, Permanent Publications, 2007. She has just published a book on the power of collective wisdom in Germany and will be translating this into English in the coming months. In the framework of an EU Learning Partnership she is involved in setting up a two-year long ‘Learning Adventure for Change Agents’ in urban environments – the Transition2Resilience Curriculum. Kristin Glover Independent zenfolio.kristinglover (some of my photo work) Painter, 30+ years as cinematographer. Writer of screenplays, poetry, essays. Civil rights activist within my labor union which is notoriously sexist/racist. Fledgling Green Committee member in neighborhood and union. The Findhorn Bioneers Conference embodies several of my passions: to visit Findhorn (am already in love with Scotland) and want to participate in "the revolution from the heart of nature".

Lady Diana Whitmore COUI www.teensandtoddlers.org Diana is the author, and founder and CEO of Children our Ultimate Investment UK (COUI). She focuses on reaching vulnerable socially excluded young people with a human potential orientated approach, with programmes such as Teens and Toddlers.

Lisa Sutherland Findhorn Foundation Born in South Africa, Lisa now lives and works in Findhorn community. Her many roles include working with the communications team in supporter relations and promotions, holding sessions for Experience weeks, participating as a member of the NFA council and also running a complimentary healing practice. My skills and interests are inspired by a deep connection with life in its many forms and I have dabbled with organic farming, shamanism, growing people and gardens, dancing, horse riding, yoga, meditation, singing cycling and being open to the many lessons being alive brings.

Lisa Shaw Biomatrix Water www.biomatrixwater.com Lisa Shaw MFA is an artist, designer and educator. She creates paintings on canvas, photographs, videos, and installations and exhibits in the UK and abroad. She is the art director of Biomatrix Water an ecological design and engineering firm based in Findhorn, Scotland. She has worked on water restoration projects in India, China, Bolivia, Russia and Europe as part of the Biomatrix team. She is an art lecturer at the Findhorn College and professor for the Design for Sustainability Online Gaia Education Program through the Open University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.

My major is Anthropology as of right now but I am interested in integrating Natural Conservation and Sustainability, Holistic learning, and Social Justice in it as well. Petra Durisova CEEE Zivica, Slovakia www.zivica.sk/en/index.php I work in environmental and global development education, mainly with schools of all types and teachers as multipliers. I am responsible also for our Eco-counselling centre, which is offering counselling to public free of charge. My organisation opened first eco-centre in Slovakia in small eco-village Zajezova (www.zajezka.sk/ENindex.htm) in the middle of Slovakia last year.

They are as close to us as our skin, yet we are at the same time strangely unfamiliar with what they look like. I'm studying and assessing our paradigms especially in their technological incarnations and develop alternatives.

Ruth Carter My areas of interest are wisdom of ancient cultures and applicability to current ecological issues, motivation and psychology, etc. I would classify myself as someone who doesn't live my life in a very ecological way and who hopes to do better once I retire at the end of October.Recent reading of 'Original Instructions' is what fired me to come to the conference.

Sheila Burr individual person The poster in my window at present reads, "Health Studies Before Wind Turbines". The local challenge is to demand that the detrimental effect of these massive turbines be examined. I live on the shore or a Great Lake in Ontario. Protecting the environment has always been important to me. As a teacher I led the program to 'green' our schools. I'm here to learn.

Stephanie Rendall Findhorn Community Semester I am a student at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts U.S.A currently studying and living in community at the Findhorn Foundation. The title of my studies at Hampshire College is "A Question of Community: Art, Dialogue, and Social Justice." I am interested in how "community" is defined by different bodies and groups of people and how these different opinions can all work to create a self-defined and self-sustained community through art and dialogue.

Stephen Parsley Parsley & Son www.virgincarbon.com Organic farmer in Cambs, growing wheat spelt oats. Trying to improve biodiversity by designing/developing an agroforestry 'system' incorporating edible and timber tree crops combined with grazing livestock and including the involvement of the local community. Recent participant on courses at Schumacher College and Findhorn. Trying to wake-up and feel the connection!

Thomas Ugo Ermacora Clear Village www.clear-village.org/ Eco-Pioneer & Founder of Clear Village, is a passionate dano-italian urbanist and geographer acting mostly as a creative social entrepreneur focused on sustainability. After working with architecture and planning professions on Zero Carbon projects in Europe, he shifted towards a trust in participatory design practices and started the CLEAR Village Initiative to rethink space, one village at a time and focus on upgrading the existing with communities. Thomas also runs the transition consultancy Etikstudio to promote sensible lifestyles through experience platforms such as exhibits and events for which he curentlty acts as Strategy & Creative Director, involving curatorial practice and concept design. Beyond these activities he has owned an organic slowfood-inspired restaurant, a webtv production company and acts as business angel or board member in a few early stage green start-ups.

Werner Pilz www.visions-suche.org I'm working in the field of Rites of Passage, guiding initiatory rituals like the Vision Quest (or the Walk aWay). I'am participant (and one of the netkeepers) of the German-speaking Visionquest Guide Network. I'm trying to bring Council into schools and community. I'm interested in the field of nature-based Mentorship. I'm interested in the question: What does it need to inspire young (and older) people including myself to become positive change agents in these times of transition?

Yvan Rytz Findhorn College www.findhorncollege.org Born in Switzerland where he had a very early political career with the Green Party, Yvan moved to the UK to study Holistic Science at Schumacher College and has started to work for Findhorn College since 2009. His work now focusses particularly on ecopsychology and nature based experiential learning.

Zoe Hoffman Findhorn Community Semester I am a student studying at Findhorn College this semester, fall 2010 and am lucky enough to be here for the Bioneers conference! In America I study Dietetics and Food Science. I am excited to learn more about environmental awareness regarding food and agriculture.
